Interstice: Various locations in/between\around/beyond Minneapolis, MN
Emma Wood
Prototype 1, 2021
mycelium and moss Wood’s work grapples with the cycles and characteristics of nature, concepts of life and death, ephemerality, absence, and longing. Their artistic practice is, simultaneously, a form of outward expression through visual storytelling and the creation of shared experience and a deeply personal act of grieving and understanding through artmaking. In many ways, Wood’s work exists in interstices—between art and science, form and function, vitality and decomposition, deterioration and regeneration, the animate and the inanimate, the representational and the metaphorical, the tangible and the metaphysical.
