Sculpture + Mycelium + Glass + Jewelry
Recreating objects and forms that hold Swedish nostalgi/ nostalgia with undertones of grief, queerness, and homesickness. Produced for an upcoming exhibition, "Fluidity: Swedish Identity in Glass" at the American Swedish Institute.
Inspired by Blaschka Glass Models of Plants, in an ongoing project, I am documenting various fungi species in glass as a way to archive them and ID them. Due to Mycology being a newer recognized field of study and we are becoming re aquatinted with their significance to the ecosystem, there is very little documentation compared to the number of species. There are an estimated 5.1 million species of fungi on the earth, and only about 1.5% are actually classified.
Playing with patterns found in molded surfaces and food in glass. Using glass frit to mimic these formations and fuse them into glass Petri dishes.
